The potential of a hop growing industry in Tairawhiti

We believe this is the first time local hop growers have come together to formally discuss the obstacles and potential of a Muti-million dollar industry which could grow from the region. There are obstacles currently in the way that not many people are familiar with, and this workshop will help shine a light.

The panel will include:

Steve Voysey, Spade Oak Wines: Wine maker and commercial Hop Grower. Working alongside Hop Revolution, Steve is the first to grow commercial hops in Gisborne.

Kiri Allan MP:
Kiri is a commercial lawyer and business consultant based in Whakatane and working all throughout the East Coast electorate. She has a focus on the primary industries, as she believes enhancing the primary sector in the East Coast region is vital to regional development. She also loves craft beers.

Dave Huff: Head brewer at Sunshine Brewery. Will be making something special and locally grown for the occasion, and discuss the hops involved.

Abe Guyer / Jase Duncan: Brewers at Bassline Brewery, Wgtn. These guys will bring a specially hoped beer for the occasion, and will talk about it.

The format will be short talks followed by a tasting and Q & A.
